ZLATA PALIČICA 2019
28/09 - 06/10/2019

The Zlata paličica (Golden Stick) Festival is a Slovenian biennial festival of performing arts for children and young people, organised by Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre), Slovenski gledališki inštitut (Slovenian Theatre Institute) and the Cankarjev Dom Cultural and Congress Centre.

The festival shows the best of Slovenian drama, musical, puppet, dance and experimental performances for young viewers, aiming to present the most successful artistic achievements in the field of performing arts.

Among the festival’s long-term goals,  to establish a quality exchange between the fields of culture and education. The other goal is to present the best production to foreign professional audience. The festival promotes selected performances as recommendable educational contents in the field of performing arts, and devotes a special attention to developing special accompanying pedagogical material and to preparing little viewers for watching their theatrical performances. The festival is thus becoming a platform for pedagogues who select contents for kindergartens and schools, but it also provides the best information about current productions for foreign selectors.

This year’s 18th edition of the festival is a Mapping festival and part of the nineteen festivals of Performing Arts for Early Years, organized in different European cities, that will host international productions for early years.

As Mapping activities, Zlata paličica will include seven different shows for early years audience and the first Movement Working Group workshop.
