BRIK FESTIVAL 2019
05/06 - 11/06/2019
BRIK is the festival organised by De Stilte in Breda (Netherlands).
The Stiltefestival, started in 2011 and taking place every two years, has a new look and a new name. From now on it is called BRIK: Brabants Internationaal Kinderfestival. With a stunning programme full of imaginative performances from all over the world, carefully selected by our artistic director and programmer, Mohamed Elghawy, over the past two years. The festival will present 73 shows in 12 days, and hopes to receive 17.000 youthful visitors.
The festival aims to bring nonverbal and poetic shows to Breda, that allow our imagination to come to life. Most art forms are involved, such as dance, live music, object theatre and acrobatic dance amongst others.
These shows are not only for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and children, but also for their (grand)parents, aunties, neighbours and all other grown-ups.
Some highlights from BRIK 2019 program:
- New in this edition is an impressive art landscape for babies of 0-12 months: the Garden of Spirited Minds from Sweden.
- Dance company Cas Public from Canada is programmed with two shows. “I’m not just trying to entertain children”, says choreographer Hélène Blackburn. “Children are already immersed in a world full of entertainment. When they go to the theatre, I want them to experience something completely different. “
- For the talent development programme we are working together with MAAS, Schippers&VanGucht and de Stilte. They supervise young creators in the development process of short performances that are presented at BRIK on Saturday 8th.
BRIK is a Mapping festival, and this edition will host many activities related to the project: the first workshop of Word work group, the second meeting of the Researchers, and the second Common Meeting that will bring all partners in Breda.
You can find all information about this edition on the booklet and in the website.
